Starting midnight December 20, 2020, Canada has banned all flight from the United Kingdom. This decision comes as part of the effort to stop COVID-19 spread.

The United Kingdom has become the focus of global attention as a new strain of coronavirus was identified in the kingdom last week. The new strain does not seem to be more lethal, but it spreads much quicker.

The decision will be re-evaluated every 72 hours. The new strain of coronavirus has already been identified in a few countries outside the United Kingdom including Denmark, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the South African Republic, and Ukraine.

Last week, Canada has launched the countrywide vaccination campaign with first doses already administered in the country’s largest cities. Canada expects to receive four million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine by the end of March 2021.
