Global citizenship & residency

A Second Passport or a Golden Visa, Planned by People Who Know Immigration

Some clients want a backup passport. Others want a home base in Europe, easier travel for business, or better options for their kids. Many want all three.

Since 1995, Jane Katkova & Associates has helped families move across borders. For investment migration, we work hand in hand with our partner firm, Fast Passport Boutique by Jane Katkova. It focuses only on citizenship by investment (CBI) and residency by investment (RBI) programs.

Below you will find every program we support, side by side. Pick the ones that fit, then read the full program guide or book a call with us.

Our partner for investment migration. Fast Passport Boutique is a licensed Toronto consultancy that handles due diligence, government applications and investment steps for every program on this page.

Know the difference

Citizenship vs. Residency by Investment

Both start with an investment. What you get at the end is not the same.

Citizenship by investment

A second passport for life

You invest in an approved fund, donation or real estate project. Once approved, you and your family become citizens and receive passports.

  • Passport and full citizenship rights
  • Usually no need to live in the country
  • Can pass to future generations
  • Typical timelines: about 5 to 18 months

Residency by investment

The right to live in a new country

A golden visa or investor permit gives you legal residence, often with travel inside Europe's Schengen Area. Some routes lead to citizenship later.

  • Residence permit or permanent residence
  • Light or no minimum stay in many programs
  • Access to schools, health care and banking
  • A possible path to citizenship over time

FAQ

Citizenship and Residency Questions, Answered

Straight answers to what investors ask us most.

Not sure which program fits?

Share your goals and budget, and we will shortlist the best options for your family.

Citizenship by investment (CBI) lets you become a citizen of a country by making an approved investment, such as a government fund donation or real estate purchase. After due diligence and approval, you and your eligible family members receive citizenship and passports.

A golden visa gives you the right to live in a country, usually as a resident. A second passport comes with full citizenship. Some golden visa programs, like Portugal’s, can lead to citizenship after several years.

Among the programs on this page, Dominica has one of the lowest starting points, from about US$200,000. Total cost also depends on family size, government fees and due diligence fees, so we compare full costs in your consultation.

Yes. Canada allows dual citizenship, so a Canadian citizen can usually hold a second citizenship. Permanent residents and other residents of Canada can also apply. We check how a new citizenship fits your Canadian status first.

Most Caribbean citizenship programs do not require you to live there. Residency programs vary: Portugal asks for about 7 days a year on the golden visa, while Greece and Hungary have no minimum stay. See each program guide for details.

We start with a consultation and planning. Our partner Fast Passport Boutique by Jane Katkova handles due diligence, government applications and investment steps, and we stay involved if your plans also include Canada.

No. A second citizenship does not give you status in Canada. If Canada is your goal, look at our business immigration and Start-Up Visa services, or book a consultation.
