Alberta’s New Expression of Interest (EOI) Model and Scoring System
Alberta’s updated immigration selection system now operates on an Expression of Interest (EOI) model, which awards points based on criteria such as education, language proficiency, age, Alberta job offers, and relevant work experience.
This revised 100-point scoring system allows for a streamlined, needs-focused approach to immigration, designed to efficiently address Alberta’s economic and labor demands.
Shifting from Monthly Intakes to Continuous EOI Submissions
Previously, Alberta’s immigration system used monthly intake windows, which often led to application backlogs. Now, with a continuous intake model, candidates can submit EOIs at any time, allowing Alberta to better manage application volumes and minimize processing delays. This system is more adaptable, supporting Alberta’s goal of aligning immigration intake with current labor market needs.
