For 85+ thousand people waiting for the Canadian citizenship test, good news has arrived! Canada is now making the citizenship test available online.
All testing was ceased in March 2020, and since then thousands of permanent residents, who are waiting for their citizenship tests, took to the streets to protest being in limbo for so long.
Citizenship is not only a question of passport. Canadian passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 183 countries and territories. Citizenship also gives access to higher security clearance, government jobs and the ability to vote in elections and run for a political office.
Unlike permanent residents, citizens may not be deported from Canada unless this citizenship was obtained by fraudulent means.
When invited, the permanent resident will have 21 days to take the test. Online tests will take place for 30 minutes and the system will take photos of the participants through the web-camera.
So, if you have been waiting for the results of your citizenship application for quite some time now, look forward getting an email inviting you to the test! For any questions or concerns, we are there for you, as always!
