OINP-ONTARIO IMMIGRANT NOMINEE PROGRAM
For many people, Express Entry to Canada has become the fastest, cheapest, and the most user-friendly way to immigrate to Canada. It is not an exaggeration to say that Express Entry transformed the Canadian immigration landscape to an immense degree.
Yet what many people come to realize after they have had their diplomas assessed, passed their English/French exams and uploaded information about themselves in their Express Entry profile is that they simply lack the points required to get the much coveted “Invitation to Apply” letter.
We’ll make it simple. To get the points you need, consider Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). If nominated, you will get enough points to get you selected in the Express Entry Draw. Today, we will tell you about OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program), as Ontario remains one of the most popular destinations for the new immigrants to the country.
OINP consists of three categories: Business, Employer Job Offer, and Human Capital. Each category consists of a few streams under which you may apply.

Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream Quite a selection, eh? Plenty to choose from. Let’s take a quick look.
The Corporate Stream helps established international corporations to expand their business to Ontario. A maximum of five key staff required to establish and maintain the business in Ontario can become eligible for nomination for permanent residence status. Learn about Corporate Stream.
The OINP’s Entrepreneur Stream does exactly what is says – it helps entrepreneurs implement a new business idea or purchase a business in Ontario. Once the business has been successfully established, the candidate can be nominated for permanent residence status. Learn more about Entrepreneur Stream.
The Employer Job Offer category streams all require a job offer from an employer. Under the Foreign Worker Stream, permanent residence can be granted to skilled foreign workers with a job offer. Check to see is you are Foreign Worker Stream.
The International Student Stream is open to international students who have met all the requirements to obtain a degree, diploma or certificate from a Canadian institution. You should have completed at least half of your studies while lawfully residing and studying in Canada. Learn more about International Student Stream.
Under the In-Demand Skills Stream, an opportunity to permanently live and work in Ontario is given to in-demand foreign workers with a job in specific occupations in the agricultural and construction sectors. To apply, you have to meet all eligibility criteria for In-Demand Skills Stream and receive a permanent and full-time job offer.
If you have a Master’s Degree obtained from Ontario’s post-secondary institution, you can apply for provincial nomination under Masters Graduate Stream without a job offer. Note that you must apply for provincial nomination within two years after you have completed all requirements for the degree. A very similar stream called PhD Graduate Stream applies to PhD graduates from Ontario’s post-secondary institutions. The same two-year limit applies to applicants. If you know French well and have at least one year of work experience in Canada, consider applying for Canadian permanent residence through Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream. CLB level 7 is required for the French language, and level 6 for the English language. You do not need to have studied in Canada. Now, Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream is a great stream to consider as it doesn’t require a job offer or Canadian education. In fact, you only need to select “Ontario” or “All Provinces and Territories” in your Express Entry profile to qualify. You may then receive a Notification of Interest from the province and apply within 45 calendar days. Learn more about Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream.
OINP’s last stream called Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream is designed for skilled workers with work experience in an eligible skilled trade who want to work and settle in Ontario. The skilled trade must be listed in Minor Group 633 or Major Group 72, 73, or 82 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system. Even this very brief review can tell you that Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program is perfectly adjusted to suit candidates with different background, education, language skills, work experience, pre-arranged employment, or even lack thereof!
Again, let’s be very clear. Provincial Nominee Programs can bring you points you lack. Points can bring you to Canada. Every Canadian province has a PNP. Terms may differ, so study every province, and look for every opportunity to get more points for your CRS score.
